Privacy policy

This explains what Press-On Nails collects when you shop at presson.com.au, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

The short version: we collect what it takes to get nails to you, we do not track you around the internet, and we do not sell anything about you.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, email address, delivery address, what you bought, what you paid, and the delivery option you chose.
  • When you pay: nothing. Card details are entered on Stripe’s page, not ours. We are told whether the payment succeeded — not what you paid with.
  • When you sign up for email: your address, the page you signed up from, and the date you signed up. The date is the record of your consent.
  • When you write to us: whatever is in your message, and your address so we can reply.
  • Automatically: our host keeps ordinary server logs — IP address, browser, pages requested — for security and reliability. The newsletter form checks your IP in memory to stop bulk signups, and does not store it.

What we do not do

  • No analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party trackers. There is no Google Analytics and no Meta pixel on this site.
  • No tracking cookies. Your cart is held in your own browser and is not sent to us until you check out.
  • No selling, renting or trading your personal information — to anyone, for anything.
  • No profiling, and no automated decisions made about you.

What we use it for

  • Taking, filling and posting your order, and telling you where it is.
  • Answering your questions and sorting out returns and faults.
  • Sending you email, if you asked us to.
  • Keeping the records we are required to keep, including for tax.
  • Spotting and preventing fraud and abuse of the site.

Who else sees it

Running a shop takes a handful of providers. Each one gets only what it needs to do its job:

  • Stripe — takes the payment and runs the checkout page. Sees your name, email, delivery address and order total.
  • Sanity — where our content lives, and where the order and mailing-list records are kept.
  • Vercel — hosts the site.
  • The carrier delivering your parcel — your name, address and contact details.
  • Anyone else only where the law requires it of us.

Some of those providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We use them on the basis that they protect personal information to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.

Email, and leaving the list

  • We only send marketing email to people who asked for it, and every one of them has a way out in it.
  • You can leave at any time — the unsubscribe link, or a line to hello@presson.com.au.
  • When you unsubscribe we mark the record as unsubscribed rather than deleting it, so that a later form submission cannot quietly sign you back up.
  • Email about an order you have placed is not marketing. You will get that either way.

How long we keep it

  • Order records: seven years, which is what Australian tax law asks of us.
  • The mailing list: until you unsubscribe, and then as an unsubscribed record, for the reason above.
  • Messages you send us: as long as it takes to deal with what you wrote about.

Keeping it safe

  • The site is served over HTTPS, and payments run on Stripe’s hosted checkout.
  • Order and subscriber records are reachable only by the people running the shop, each with their own login.
  • No system is perfectly secure. If there were a breach likely to cause you serious harm, we would tell you and the Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

Seeing it, fixing it, complaining about it

  • Email hello@presson.com.au to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to ask us to delete it. We will answer promptly.
  • We may need to check who you are first, before handing over anything about an order.
  • A few things we cannot delete on request: a paid order has to stay in the books for the seven years above.
  • Unhappy with how we have handled your information? Tell us, and if that does not settle it you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
